MINUTES
OF A
SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE
PLEASANTON CITY COUNCIL

August 31, 2004

1. CALL TO ORDER

The special meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Pico at
6:35 p.m.

2. ROLL CALL

City Clerk Dawn Abrahamson called the roll, which is recorded as follows:
Councilmembers present were Kay Ayala, Steve Brozosky, Matt Campbell, Jennifer
Hosterman, and Mayor Tom Pico. Staff members present were: Deborah McKeehan,
City Manager; Michael Roush, City Attorney; Brian Swift, Director of Planning and
Community Development; Wayne Rasmussen, Principal Planner; and Jim Wolfe,
Director of Parks and Community Services.

3. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Yev Philipovitch, a Pleasanton resident, spoke in opposition to a senior care
center being operated in his neighborhood. He believed it was inappropriate for this type
of activity to occur in a residential neighborhood that has limited parking and children
playing in the street. He believed Council should work with the State in placing these
establishments where they are more appropriate.

Harold L. Renfro, a Pleasanton resident, concurred with Mr. Philipovitch's
comments.

There were no further speakers.

4. SELECT THE WINNERS OF THE BERNAL PROPERTY DESIGN

COMPETITION AND PRESENT AWARDS (SR 04:218)

Wayne Rasmussen presented the staff report.

It was moved by Mr. Campbell, seconded by Ms. Ayala, to confirm the
winners of the amateur design competition as recommended by William Liskamm,
to approve the distribution of prizes as recommended by staff, and to present the
awards to the winners.

Pleasanton City Council 1 10/12/04
Minutes
