MINUTES <br /> OF THE <br /> MEETING <br /> OF THE <br />PLEASANTON CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />June 1, 2004 <br /> <br />6:30 P.M. CLOSED SESSION <br /> <br /> Conference with legal counsel regarding pending litigation (Signature Properties, <br />et al. v. Pleasanton Unified School District). <br /> <br />Conference with legal counsel concerning the claim of Martina Pichoni. <br /> <br /> Discussion with real property negotiator, Deborah McKeehan, regarding the <br />potential purchase of the property located at 4242 Vervais Avenue, Pleasanton, <br />Califomia. <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br /> The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Tom Pico <br />at 7:05 p.m. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Ayala led the assembly in the pledge of allegiance. She <br />reminded the public that the next First Wednesday event would be held on June 2 in <br />downtown Pleasanton. She noted that as of July 1, 2004, the sales tax rate in Alameda <br />County would increase to 8.75 percent. The increase in sales tax was on the ballot in <br />March and the voters in Alameda County approved it. The sales tax increase will provide <br />funding for the hospitals in Alameda County. Since the opening of Val Vista, vandalism <br />has been occurring. She asked the community to be vigilant, and to contact the Police <br />Department if there are any problems. <br /> <br /> Ms. McKeehan said that staff would be working with each of the neighborhoods <br />to try to stop the vandalism. She noted that staff would be publishing a direct hotline. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala reminded everyone that the Bemal Property design competition entries <br />are exhibited at the Pleasanton Library during normal operating hours until June 6. <br /> <br />Pleasanton City Council 1 06/01/04 <br />Minutes <br /> <br /> <br />
