Stroh). <br /> <br />Conference with legal counsel concerning the claim of Rachel Cason. <br /> <br />Conference regarding recruitment of City Manager. <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br /> The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Tom Pico <br />at 7:08 p.m. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brozosky led the assembly in the pledge of alleg/ance. He <br />reported on certain items that were occurring that the community might not be aware of. <br />Conversations are being held about the sports fields in the City and he wanted to provide <br />an update about what is being done. The grand opening of Val Vista Park would occur in <br />the next few months. Val Vista Park has 7 plus acres of high quality soccer fields, and he <br />thanked Ballistic Soccer for its donation of $500,000. In addition, there are other features <br />in the park, including a water play area, skate board park, basketball courts, and picnic <br />areas. He and Ms. Ayala serve on the School Liaison Committee, which is a committee <br />comprised of School Board and the City Council members who work together in trying to <br />solve issues that we have in common. One of the issues that was brought to its attention <br />in the past few months is the need for additional sports fields in the City. The School <br />Liaison Committee is working on ways to get additional fields in the City, such as <br />existing fields that the School District has available. He noted that there are some joint <br />use facilities, such as the gyms, which are jointly run between the School District and the <br />City.
