MINUTES <br /> OF TIlE <br /> SPECIAL MEETING <br /> OF THE <br />PLEASANTON CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />June 24, 2003 <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br /> The special meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Tom Pico at 10:14 <br />p.m. <br /> <br /> Deputy City Clerk Marsha Schmiegel called the roll, which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmembers present were Kay Ayala, Steve Brozosky, Matt Campbell, Jennifer Hosterman, <br />and Mayor Tom Pico. Staff members present were: Deborah McKeehan, City Manager; <br />Michael Roush, City Attorney; Steven Bocian, Deputy City Manager; Sue Rossi, Director of <br />Finance. <br /> <br />Adoption of 2003/04 - 2004/05 Operating Budget and Community Development Block <br />Grant (SR 03:187) <br /> <br />Mayor Pico asked if any councilmember had any modifications to propose. <br /> <br /> Mr. Brozosky said the City might be faced with cuts from the State of California's <br />financial situation and he was concerned about the current PeopleSoff situation and the sales tax <br />decrease if PeopleSoff is bought out. He asked if there were enough in the reserves to cover the <br />loss of Vehicle Licensing Fees and flat sales tax for two years. <br /> <br /> Ms. McKeehan responded by saying that as of June 30, 2003 there is enough to cover the <br />loss of VLF for two years. There are enough reserves to cover other losses in revenue. Reports <br />will come back to Council quarterly. <br /> <br />Mr. Pico said Council has a history of amending the budget as necessary. <br /> <br />Ms. McKeehan said expenditures are constantly being adjusted intemally. <br /> <br /> Mr. Brozosky stated he would have liked to have had an opportunity to approve the <br />present MOU contracts now in place.
