MINUTES of THE MEETING of THE CITY COUNCIL Pleasanton, California April 21, 1970 CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO FLAG Mayor Bernard Getton called the Adjourned Regular Meeting to order at 8:00 P.M., and then led the pledge of allegiance to the flag. ROLL CALL City Clerk Helen McCarty called the roll which is recorded as follows: Councilmen Beratlis, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Getton were present. Council- man Rega was absent. Mr. Fales, City Manager, Mr. Edgar, Assistant City Manager, Mr. Hirst, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell, Director of Public Works, and Mr. Castro, Director of Planning, were present. AGENDAAMENDMENTS There were no agenda amendments. CONSENT CALENDAR There were no items listed on the Consent Calendar. PUBLIC HEARINGS There were no Dublic hearings scheduled for this meeting. M~TTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION There were no matters continued for decision. SPECIAL REPORTS Canvass of Ballots and Confirmation of Election Results The City Clerk reported that there was a total of 6,135 votes cast, of which 1,834 were cast for Robert Reid for Councilman; 1,687 cast for Robert pearson for Councilman; 1,513 cast for Eugene Rega for Councilman; and 1,101 cast for Roger McLain for Councilman. The City Clerk declared that Robert I. Reid and Robert M. Pearson were elected to the two Councilman seats. It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Spiliotopoulos that Resolution No. 70-84, acceDting the Canvass of the election returns as re- ported by the City Clerk, be adopted. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton NOES: None ABSENT: Councilman Rega Installation of newly-elected City Councilmen The City Clerk administered the oath of office to Councilmen Pearson and Reid and issued them their Certificates of Election. REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS There were no reports from Boards and Commissions. REPORTS OF THE CITY MAnaGER There were no reports of the City Manager. REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY There were no reports of the City Attorney. COMMUNICATIONS There were no communications read at this meeting. EXECUTIVE SESSION The City Clerk recessed the meeting to an Executive Session at 8:15 P.M. The City Clerk reconvened the meeting at 8.~5 P.M.
