MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> January 21, 1974 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG <br /> Mayor Robert Pearson called the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council to <br />order at 8:00 P.M., and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flago <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson were present. Mr. Edgar, <br />City Manager, Mr. Campbell, Assistant CityManager/Director of Public Works, Mr. <br />Sooby, Director of Engineering Services, Mr. Arnold Eaton, D~rector of Field Ser- <br />vices, Mr. Nelson, Police Captain, Mr. Frudden, Fire Chief, Mr. Caporusso, Recrea- <br />tion Superintendent, Mr. Miller and Mr. Walker, Assistants to the City Manager, <br />were present. <br /> <br />AGENDA AMENDMENTS <br /> Mayor Pearson requested that an item be added to the Consent Calendar - Commend- <br /> ing Retirin~ Sheriff Frank I. Madigan. <br /> <br /> Councilman Mori requested that item 13 - Matters Initiated by Council Members, <br />be heard after the Consent Calendar. <br /> <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilman Reid, and seconded by Councilman Herlihy, that the <br /> following items listed on the Consent Calendar, be approved as amended: <br /> <br />a. Approval of City Council Minutes for January 14, 1974. <br /> <br />b. Acceptance of Grant Deed from Western Title Guaranty Co., Parcel A & C of <br /> Parcel Map 696. <br /> <br />c. Acceptance of Grant Deed from Western Title Guaranty Co., regarding public <br /> service easement, Parcel Map 696. <br /> <br />do Acceptance of Grant Deed from Roman Catholic Church for balance of Civic <br /> Center Property. <br /> <br /> e. Proclaim February 3-9, 1974, as National Dental Health Week. <br /> <br />f. Certificate of Appreciation commending Retiring Sheriff Frank I. Madigan for <br /> his service to the con~nunity. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> Councilman Mori stated that he felt criticism of the City staff by Mayor <br />Pearson was unwarranted, that staff had followed the direction of the City Council <br />with regard to the Sunol Sewage Treatment Plant. <br /> <br /> Councilman Kinney agreed with Mro Mori, stating that there needs to be more <br />cooperation in solving the problems of the City. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pearson quoted from a staff report dated February 1970, regarding flow <br />into the Sunol Plant and anticipating no problems with increased growth. He <br />stated the staff should have foreseen at that time that tha Plant was inadequate <br />and should have taken appropriate action. <br /> <br /> <br />
