Horton, Recruiting Area Commander, made a presen- <br /> tation to the City Council regarding the U. S. Army today; its opportunities and bene- <br /> fits, and changes that have been made in the past five years. Mayor Brandes thanked <br /> Captain Horton for his presentation, and also requested that he advise the City Manager <br /> of any services the Army might be able to provide that could be of use by the City. <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG <br /> Mayor Frank Brandes, Jr. called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order <br /> ' <br /> at 8:00 P.M., and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: Council- <br />members Butler, Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes were present. Mr. Brown, City <br />Manager, Mr. Levine, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell, Director of Public Works and Utilities, <br />and Mr. Harris, Director of Planning and Community Development, were present. <br /> <br />AGEIDA ~,IEE~MENTS <br /> Mr. Brown requested that an item be added to the agenda under the Consent Calendar <br />as item 4j - Summer Youth Recreation Program. <br /> <br /> Mr. Brown advised there would be an Executive Session preceding item 13a ~ Petition <br />to Referend Railroad Consolidation Project, to discuss potential litigation; and another <br />Executive Session at the conclusion of this meeting to discuss personnel. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer requested that item 13a - Petition to Referend Railroad Conso- <br />lidation Project, be moved on the agenda to be discussed after item 8b, to accommodate <br />members of the audience. Council concurred. <br /> <br />CONSENT CALE~YDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, that the <br /> following items listed on the Consent Calendar, as amended thereto, be approved: <br /> <br />a. Approval of City Council Minutes for 4-24-79. <br /> <br />b. Adoption of Resolution No. 79-74, amending Traffic Resolution No. 76-79, to estab- <br /> lish diagonal parking on the north side of Vine Street and No Parking on the south <br /> side of Vine Street, within Pleasanton Greens development, with the understanding <br /> that the responsibility for keeping the north side of the street swept shall be <br /> that of the development. <br /> <br />c. Adoption of Ordinance No. 882, Swimming Pools, deleting Subsection 2-18.42(b) of <br /> Ordinance No. 655 in its entirety and substituting a new Subsection 2-18.42(b) as <br /> follows: "~rhen any work is to be done by persons other than the prime contractor <br /> or licensed subcontractors in his employ, separate, additional permits shall be <br /> procured by the person or persons doing such work, and an additional fee paid <br /> therefore". <br /> <br /> <br />
