327 <br /> <br /> MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> February 23, 1982 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG <br /> Boy Scout Mike Vader, Acting Mayor, called the Regular Meeting of the City <br /> Council to order at 8:00 P.M. Members of the Boy Scouts advanced the colors and <br /> led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer were present. Mr. <br />Walker, City Manager, Mr. Swift, Acting City Attorney, Mr. Warnick, Director of <br />Public Works and Utilities, Mr. Harris, Director of Planning and Community Develop- <br />ment, and Mrs. Wagner, Director of Finance, were present. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer welcomed citizens to the first meeting of the City Council in the <br />new Pleasanton Council Chambers, which was sponsored by a non-profit corporation and <br />built with donations from the community. Mayor Mercer thanked Mr. Dee Wilson, <br />President of the non-profit corporation, for his outstanding efforts in this en- <br />deavor, as well as Mr. Ted Fairfield and Mr. William Gale, the other two officers <br />of the non-profit corporation. Mayor Mercer acknowledged the gift of plants from <br />the Planning and Finance Departments of City Hall, the Planning Commission, Bank of <br />America, and Marty Smith of Bishop Hawk. <br /> <br />AGENDAAMENDMENTS <br /> Mr. Walker stated there had been a request to continue item 9a - Adoption of <br />Ordinance No. 1016, approving the application of the City of Pleasanton to prezone <br />two parcels totalling 14.5 acres in the vicinity of 2820 Vineyard Avenue (eastern <br />terminus of Chardonnay Drive) to PUD (Planned Unit Development) Residential District~ <br />to the meeting of March 9, 1982, due to the illness of Mrs. Teixeira. After dis- <br />cussion, Council determined to continue this item. Mr. David Ash, 615 Orofino Court~ <br />stated that residents in the area would like this property zoned PUD-Low Density <br />Residential, and he requested that Chardonnay Drive be terminated as a cul-de-sac, <br />and that Vineyard Avenue be used as access to the property. Mr. Ash presented a <br />petition, signed by 67 residents, which read as follows: <br /> <br /> "We the undersigned wish to advise the City Council of our concerns regarding <br /> the prezoning and annexation of the Teixeira property in the vicinity of 2820 <br /> Vineyard Avenue. (Eastern terminus of Chardonnay Drive). The purposed pro- <br /> perty should be zoned as PUD Low Density Residential. <br /> <br /> "We also desire the following items be incorporated in the site plan for <br /> development of this property: <br /> <br /> 1. That Vineyard Avenue be the main access into this development <br /> and any development on adjacent properties. <br /> <br /> 2. That Chardonnay Drive be terminated as a cul-de-sac within the <br /> development of the Teixeira property (parcels #2 and #3 per <br /> attached map)." <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer advised Mr. Ash that he could make a further presentation when the <br />item is considered on March 9, 1982. <br /> <br /> <br />
