MINUTES <br />of <br />T9E PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Pleasanton, California <br />July 26, 1967 <br />The regularly scheduled meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order at <br />8:08 P.M., on Wednesday, July 26, 1967, by Chairman Antonini. <br />ROLL CALL showed the following: <br />Present: Commissioner Arnold <br />Plato <br />Chairman . Antonini <br />Secretary Spink <br />Absent: Commissioner Carrigan <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Plato, seconded by Commissioner Arnold, and carried, <br />the minutes of July 19, 1967, were approved ae presented by unanimous vote. <br />3a. Mr. Spink stated the Planning Commission meetings would be moved to the Valley <br />View Elementary School in the multi-purpose room, effective July 31, 1967. Upon <br />motion of Commissioner Plato, seconded by Chairman Antonini, the following <br />resolution was adopted by unanimous vote; <br />RESOLUTION N0. 694 <br />WRERSAS, the application by the Planning Director that the <br />Planning Commission meetings be changed effective . <br />August 1967, to meet in the multi-purpose roam of <br />Valley View Elementary School has come before this <br />Commission, <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT <br />RESOLVED: that the above named application be approved. <br />4a. V-67-21. Lynnewood Methodist Church <br />Chairman Antonini opened the public hearing on the application of tha Lynnewood <br />Methodist Church, 1560 Santa Rita Road, for a Variance from Section 4.500 to <br />allow a reduction in required side yard from SU feet to 20 feet for a meeting <br />room addition on property located on the Flest side of Foothill Road, approximately <br />1/4 mile North of Bernal Avenue in an "A" District. Mr. Spink presented the staff <br />report, which recommended denial of the application on the grounds that the <br />findings required by Sec. 19.1003 and 19.1004 cannot be made. Mr. Jack Bras, who <br />was representing the applicant, stated that Mr. Stuart asked that the access to <br />the front of the house be retained. Mr. Bras also stated the proposed plan was <br />only a temporary plan, and the conditional use permit was only for three years. <br />Mr. Spink then presented the staff report for the Zoning Permit, Z-67-43, which <br />recommended that the Planning Commission continue this item to August 9, 1967, <br />or August 23, 1467, to allow the applicant to submit a revised site plan incorp- <br />orating the staff recommendations. Mr. Bras stated the church has the right of <br />access over Carter Road by deed. Commissioner Plato expressed concern that <br />emergency vehicles could not effectively travel on the narrow road. Mr. Bras <br />stated that the church would be equipped with a sprinkler system on the roof. <br />Mr. Campbell spoke relevant to the difficulty of building a three-foot graveled <br />shoulder along the length of the road; though the road would be satisfactory as <br />proposed by staff. Mr. Bras stated this solution would be acceptable, but asked <br />if the church could get Site Plan Approval that night. Mr. Bras stated that the <br />existing structure was only 30 feet from the property line and asked that the <br />Variance be granted to legalise the location of the existing structure. After <br />further discussion, upon motion of Chairman Antonini, seconded by Commissioner <br />Arnold, and carried, the public hearing was closed.
