MINUTES of T9E PLANNING COMMISSION Pleasanton, California July 26, 1967 The regularly scheduled meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order at 8:08 P.M., on Wednesday, July 26, 1967, by Chairman Antonini. ROLL CALL showed the following: Present: Commissioner Arnold Plato Chairman . Antonini Secretary Spink Absent: Commissioner Carrigan Upon motion of Commissioner Plato, seconded by Commissioner Arnold, and carried, the minutes of July 19, 1967, were approved ae presented by unanimous vote. 3a. Mr. Spink stated the Planning Commission meetings would be moved to the Valley View Elementary School in the multi-purpose room, effective July 31, 1967. Upon motion of Commissioner Plato, seconded by Chairman Antonini, the following resolution was adopted by unanimous vote; RESOLUTION N0. 694 WRERSAS, the application by the Planning Director that the Planning Commission meetings be changed effective . August 1967, to meet in the multi-purpose roam of Valley View Elementary School has come before this Commission, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the above named application be approved. 4a. V-67-21. Lynnewood Methodist Church Chairman Antonini opened the public hearing on the application of tha Lynnewood Methodist Church, 1560 Santa Rita Road, for a Variance from Section 4.500 to allow a reduction in required side yard from SU feet to 20 feet for a meeting room addition on property located on the Flest side of Foothill Road, approximately 1/4 mile North of Bernal Avenue in an "A" District. Mr. Spink presented the staff report, which recommended denial of the application on the grounds that the findings required by Sec. 19.1003 and 19.1004 cannot be made. Mr. Jack Bras, who was representing the applicant, stated that Mr. Stuart asked that the access to the front of the house be retained. Mr. Bras also stated the proposed plan was only a temporary plan, and the conditional use permit was only for three years. Mr. Spink then presented the staff report for the Zoning Permit, Z-67-43, which recommended that the Planning Commission continue this item to August 9, 1967, or August 23, 1467, to allow the applicant to submit a revised site plan incorp- orating the staff recommendations. Mr. Bras stated the church has the right of access over Carter Road by deed. Commissioner Plato expressed concern that emergency vehicles could not effectively travel on the narrow road. Mr. Bras stated that the church would be equipped with a sprinkler system on the roof. Mr. Campbell spoke relevant to the difficulty of building a three-foot graveled shoulder along the length of the road; though the road would be satisfactory as proposed by staff. Mr. Bras stated this solution would be acceptable, but asked if the church could get Site Plan Approval that night. Mr. Bras stated that the existing structure was only 30 feet from the property line and asked that the Variance be granted to legalise the location of the existing structure. After further discussion, upon motion of Chairman Antonini, seconded by Commissioner Arnold, and carried, the public hearing was closed.
