14
THE CITY OF
pL~£~S~4NTON® CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
1
April 17, 2007
Public Works Department
TITLE: AWARD OF A CONSULTANT SERVICES CONTRACT TO BERLOGAR
GEOTECHNICAL CONSULTANTS IN THE AMOUNT OF $30,721 TO
PROVIDE GEOTECHNICAL, SPECIALTY INSPECTION AND MATERIAL
SAMPLING SERVICES FOR THE VINEYARD CORRIDOR WATER
BOOSTER PUMP STATION, PROJECT NO. 011023PS
SUMMARY
The Vineyard Avenue Corridor Specific Plan (VCSP) provides for the construction of a
number of water and sewer infrastructure improvements including a new water tank and
booster pump station. Previously, the City Council awarded a construction contract for
the new water tank and booster pump station. This report recommends that the Council
award a contract to provide for the geotechnical and materials sampling services
required for the construction of the booster pump station.
RECOMMENDATION
Award and authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with Berlogar Geotechnical
Inc. in the amount of $30,721 to provide geotechnical and materials sampling services
for the Vineyard Corridor Booster Pump Station.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
A scope of work necessary to support the construction of the Vineyard Corridor Water
Booster Pump Station was established by staff after comparing similar services for other
similar types of buildings. The proposal submitted by Berloger in response to the City
request includes a fee estimate by task. Attached is a copy of the proposal that
includes the scope of work. Compensation will be on a time and materials basis, with a
not-to-exceed amount of $30,721.
The operation of the new booster pump station will result in some additional staff
operational costs as well as additional maintenance and energy costs. In addition,
construction of this facility will add to the City's overall base cost used to determine
replacement and improvement accrual charges for the entire City water system
infrastructure.
