<br /> <br />15 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />pLEASANTONo <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />January 16,2007 <br />Public Works Department <br /> <br />INSTALLATION OF A 20 MINUTE PARKING SPACE ON MAIN <br />STREET IN FRONT OF THE PLEASANTON HOTEL <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br />meeting of January 16,2007: <br /> <br />Adopt a resolution to establish one "20 minute" parking stall on <br />Main Street in front of the Pleasanton Hotel. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />The Pleasanton Hotel has requested the creation of a 20 minute parking zone <br />on Main Street at the currently unmarked curb location along the Pleasanton <br />Hotel frontage. The conversion would change 20 feet of curb space from 2 <br />hour parking to 20 minute parking. The Pleasanton Downtown Association <br />has been contacted regarding the creation of the 20 minute zone and are in <br />favor of the conversion. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members ofthe City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />There are four marked public parking stalls in front of the Pleasanton Hotel and one parking <br />space with no stall markings. Currently, the area in front of the Pleasanton Hotel is designated <br />for 2 hour parking between 9 am and 6 pm. The Pleasanton Hotel requested that the unmarked <br />parking space be designated for 20 minute parking in order to facilitate their plans to expand their <br />take-out food business. <br /> <br />The Pleasanton Hotel is located on the northern end of Main Street, near the intersection with Del <br />Valle Parkway/Vervais Street. The ground floor area is utilized for a restaurant and banquet <br />facilities, and the upstairs is utilized as office space. The Pleasanton Hotel wants to increase their <br />take-out food business and a 20 minute parking space would facilitate the frequent parking tum- <br /> <br />Page 1 of2 <br />
