PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF PLEASANTON

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION NO. PC-94-12

,/717 /"7ot~ tI,,:/ /~,,~(

RESOLUTION APPROVING A NON-EXEMPT HOME OCCUPATION PERMIT AS
FILED UNDER CASE UP-94-09, THE APPLICATION OF CONNIE HARRIS

WHEREAS, Connie Harris has applied for a non-exempt home
occupation permit to operate an in-home electrolysis
service with a maximum of fifteen clients per week; and

WHEREAS, zoning for the property is R-1-6500; and

WHEREAS, at their duly noticed public hearing of March 23, 1994,
the Planning commission considered all public testimony,
relevant exhibits and recommendations of the city staff
concerning this application; and

WHEREAS, the Planning Commission made the following findings:

A. The proposed location of the conditional use is in
accordance with the objectives of the zoning
ordinance and the purpose of the district in which
the site is located.

Chapters 18.32 and 18.36 permit home occupations to
be conducted in residences in the R-1 and RM zoning
districts, in accordance with Chapter 18.104 (Home
Occupations). Some of the objectives of the R-1
and RM districts are to protect residential
properties from the hazards, noise, and congestion
created by commercial and industrial traffic, and
to protect properties from noise, illumination,
unsightliness, odors, dust, dirt and other
objectionable influences and hazards.

The objective of Chapter 18.104 is to permit
certain home occupations which traditionally take
place in residences and which do not create the
potential for changing the residential character of
a neighborhood. The in-home electrolysis service
will be inoffensive and unnoticeable from the
exterior of the home.

B.

The proposed location of the conditional use and
the conditions under which it would be operated or
maintained will not be detrimental to the pUblic
health, safety, or welfare, or materially injurious
to the properties or improvements in the vicinity.

I

II
