1 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> —.. ;; : ::;:. r�::: <br /> PLEAS� <br /> 4NTON CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> May 2, 2023 <br /> City Attorney <br /> TITLE REVIEW AND APPROVE BY MINUTE ORDER THE CONTINUATION OF <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 23-1351 RATIFYING THE PROCLAMATION OF THE <br /> EXISTENCE OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY DUE TO SEVERE STORMS AS <br /> APPLICATIONS FOR FEDERAL AND STATE RELIEF FUNDS ARE STILL <br /> PENDING; AND TERMINATE RESOLUTION NO. 23-1352 DELEGATING <br /> AUTHORITY TO THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AGREEMENTS FOR <br /> STORM-RELATED PURCHASES AS SUCH AUTHORIZATION IS NO <br /> LONGER NEEDED <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Due to severe weather, the City Manager, acting as Director of Emergency Services, <br /> declared a local state of emergency on January 9, 2023. The City Council ratified this <br /> action by Resolution No. 23-1351 on January 11, 2023, at which time the City Council <br /> also delegated authority to the City Manager to make storm-related purchases by <br /> Resolution No. 23-1352. The City Council is asked to continue the local emergency as <br /> the City is applying for federal and state reimbursement of emergency response and <br /> repair costs. The City Council is asked to terminate the delegation of authority to the <br /> City Manager to make storm-related purchases as such authority is no longer needed. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve by minute order a continuation of the local emergency due severe storms <br /> ratified by Resolution No. 23-1351. Terminate by minute order Resolution No. 23-1352 <br /> as agreements for storm-related purchases and repairs can be brought to the City <br /> Council at its regular meetings. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> No impact. <br />
