The program is designed to share information, build relationships, and
develop community leaders. For many years, the City has supported the Leadership
Pleasanton program through a direct sponsorship of$10,000 annually as well as with
City staff time to conduct several of the monthly sessions. As the City commences a
citywide strategic plan process, staff is recommending the City continue to provide
$10,000 in annual financial support to the Leadership Pleasanton program for Fiscal
Years 2023/24 and 2024/25. This will allow City staff the necessary time to evaluate
alternative programs to more directly inform residents about Pleasanton's city
government and community.
RECOMMENDATION
Allocate $10,000 in each fiscal year of the 2023-2025 General Fund budget and
authorize the City Manager to execute an annual agreement between the City and the
Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce for $10,000 for support Leadership Pleasanton for
Fiscal Year 2023/24 (Attachment 1), while evaluating alternatives including a City-
hosted program.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
For numerous years, the City and the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce have entered
into an annual agreement for $20,000, with $10,000 identified for support of the
Leadership Pleasanton program and $10,000 to help underwrite various economic
innovation and entrepreneurship events that build commercial capacity in the city. This
$20,000 has been included each year of the City's two-year budget. However, the
$10,000 in Leadership Pleasanton support has not been provided to the Pleasanton
Chamber since Fiscal Year 2020/21 due to COVID and other program considerations. If
the Council approves the recommended actions, the $10,000 will be included in the
Page 1 of 3
