2023-2025 General Fund budget that will be presented to the Council for adoption in <br /> June 2023. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Hosted by the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, the Leadership Pleasanton program <br /> was developed to identify and motivate people who are committed to the betterment of <br /> Pleasanton and develop community leaders from different sectors within the community. <br /> Leadership Pleasanton provides program participants an overview of community assets, <br /> needs and issues, and participants are encouraged to further their community <br /> involvement through roles with non-profit organizations and service on local and City <br /> boards, committees, and commissions. <br /> Topics covered during Leadership Pleasanton include: <br /> • Pleasanton History <br /> • Local Government <br /> • Health and Human Services <br /> • Business and Economics <br /> • Public Safety <br /> • Volunteer Leadership Essentials <br /> • Education <br /> • Infrastructure and Transportation <br /> • Cultural Arts and Recreation. <br /> There is an application process and fee to attend Leadership Pleasanton. Applications <br /> are accepted on a first-come and first-served basis. The tuition for the 2022-23 program <br /> is $950.00 per participant, with a limited number of partial scholarships available. The <br /> program hosts 30-32 applicants per year. Program participants include residents, local <br /> business leaders, local government leaders, social service organization and <br /> professionals. Leadership Pleasanton has generally had four City employees participate <br /> each year, provided as part of the City's financial support of the program. <br /> For many years, the City has supported the Leadership Pleasanton program through a <br /> direct sponsorship of$10,000 annually as well as with City staff time to conduct several <br /> of the monthly sessions. In addition to the City, other sponsors have included the <br /> Pleasanton Unified School District, Alameda County Fairgrounds, Robert Half, Stanford <br /> Health Care Tri-Valley, and the DoubleTree by Hilton. <br /> Since its inception, the Leadership Pleasanton program has graduated a class each <br /> year until the program was suspended due to COVID from March 2020 to September <br /> 2022 when the program was restarted. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> Over time, the City has benefited from its support of Leadership Pleasanton, as all <br /> program participants have developed expanded community connections and <br /> awareness, and additionally many of the program participants have become future City <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br />
