2
THE CITY OF
ma 11 °° = ' "" CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
PLEASANTON,
January 11, 2023
City Manager
TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION DELEGATING AUTHORITY TO THE CITY
MANAGER OR THEIR DESIGNEE TO AWARD CONTRACTS AND
EXECUTE AGREEMENTS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY FOR STORM-
RELATED PURCHASES DURING THE EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL
EMERGENCY
SUMMARY
Adoption of this resolution would allow for the administrative issuance of contracts for
services and the purchase of supplies for storm-related items during the existence of
the local emergency. Such administrative process will allow the City Manager to quickly
respond to requests that may be time sensitive. The City Council will be publicly advised
of such purchases at subsequent City Council meetings.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a resolution delegating authority to the City Manager or their designee to award
contracts and execute agreements on behalf of the City for storm-related purchases
during the existence of the local emergency.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The City may need to quickly purchase vital supplies (e.g., sandbags, generators) or
contract for services (e.g., personnel and equipment to removal fallen trees or repair
flooded pump stations) in response to the severe weather. Total costs are not known at
this time. Financial charges resulting from the approval will be publicly reported at future
City Council meetings.
