19 <br />THE CITY OF CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />PLEASANTON. <br />November 16, 2021 <br />Police <br />City Manager <br />TITLE: APPROVE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN <br />PLEASANTON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THE CITY OF <br />PLEASANTON FOR SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS <br />SUMMARY <br />The City of Pleasanton Police Departmenthas a rich tradition of partnership with the <br />Pleasanton Unified School District (PUSD). Through this partnership, the City of <br />Pleasanton has provided two full time School Resource Officers throughoutthe school <br />district to enhance school safety, strengthen the relationship between youth and law <br />enforcement, and enhance educational opportunities centered on positive interaction <br />with youth in ourcommunity. Staff is asking for Council approval of a Memorandum of <br />Understanding (MOU) to formalize the relationship and articulate the role and <br />responsibilities of the parties. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />It is recommended the City enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the <br />Pleasanton Unified School Districtfor the School Resource Officerprogram. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />The cost to the City for providing 2.0 FTE officers to the school district is $417,094. This <br />cost has been funded by the City since the program began almost twenty years ago. <br />
