IN THE AMOUNT OF $430,726 TO RENOVATE THE <br /> PLAYGROUNDS AT KEN MERCER AND VINTAGE HILLS PARKS AND A <br /> PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH PARK PLANET IN THE <br /> AMOUNT OF $186,128 TO RENOVATE THE PLAYGROUND AT TAWNY <br /> PARK, CIP NO. 21745 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The proposed contracts with Ross Recreation, Inc. (Ross) and Park Planet are to <br /> renovate the Ken Mercer Sports Park, Vintage Hills Park, and Tawny Park playgrounds. <br /> The project was advertised in October 2020 and the consultants were chosen in <br /> December based on their qualifications. Community outreach was conducted in January <br /> and February 2021 and the designs and community input were presented to the Parks <br /> and Recreation Commission on February 11, 2021 . The final playground designs reflect <br /> input received from the community, and the recommendation of the Parks and <br /> Recreation Commission. The total amount for the two contracts for the playground <br /> renovations is $616,854. Construction is expected to occur in Summer 2021 . <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve a professional services agreement with Ross Recreation, Inc. in the amount <br /> of $294,757 for renovation of the central and east playgrounds at Ken Mercer Sports <br /> Park and $135,969 for the playground at Vintage Hills Park, for a total amount of <br /> $430,726. <br /> 2. Approve a professional services agreement with Park Planet in the amount of <br /> $186,128 for renovation of the playground at Tawny Park. <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to execute the professional service agreements with <br /> Ross Recreation, Inc. and Park Planet in the total amount of$616,854. <br /> 4. Authorize the Director of Engineering to approve and execute amendments for Ross <br /> Recreation in the amount of $42,000 and Park Planet in the amount of $18,000, for a <br /> total contingency of $60,000, approximately 10 percent of the total cost. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Funding for the renovation of the Ken Mercer Sports Park, Tawny Park and Vintage <br /> Hills Park playgrounds, CIP No. 21745, totals $682,285. Anticipated expenditures for <br /> the project totals $681 ,437, (including project advertisement, contract amount, cost of <br /> painting the existing swings at Vintage Hills Park, and a 10 percent contingency for <br /> construction), leaving a balance of $848 as outlined in Attachment 1 . <br />
