8 THE CITY OF ,,, A' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT pLEASANTON. February 16, 2021 Engineering TITLE: ACCEPT PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS PERFORMED BY SUAREZ & MUNOZ CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR THE PIONEER CEMETERY SOUTH HILL IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT, CIP NO. 21765 SUMMARY The Pioneer Cemetery South Hill Improvements Project is the fourth phase of improvements to the cemetery identified in the 2014 Pleasanton Pioneer Cemetery Master Plan. The south hill improvements include the installation of a committal structure and plaza for burials, improvements to the potter's field, construction of a pathway connecting the parking and storage areas to the committal plaza and potter's field, installation of additional signage and hanging flower baskets. The project also includes landscape improvements to the south hill area, furnishings, additional parking, and a dedication plaque. Construction of all work is complete and ready for acceptance by City Council. RECOMMENDATION 1. Accept the improvements for the project and authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion. 2. Authorize payment of the retention in the amount of$30,045 to Suarez & Munoz Construction, Inc. 30 days after recordation of the Notice of Completion. 3. Transfer the project balance to the Pioneer Cemetery Master Plan Implementation Reserve, CIP No. 16446. FINANCIAL STATEMENT Funding for construction of this project totaled $800,000. The cost of construction was $600,896, which included the original construction contract award of$598,000, and two change orders totaling $2,896. Total project expenditures, including design, construction, and other miscellaneous expenses are $715,913, leaving a project balance of$84,087. Staff recommends the remaining project balance be transferred to the Pioneer Cemetery Master Plan Implementation Reserve, CIP No. 16446. Project funding and expenditures are outlined in Attachment 1.
