Public Comment STAFF RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the Planning Commission discuss the draft amendments to the Pleasanton Municipal Code (PMC) and adopt a resolution recommending approval of Case P20-0412 to the City Council with the proposed amendments shown in Exhibit A. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY In 2019, the Governor signed into law six different bills (Senate Bill 13, Assembly Bill 68, Assembly Bill 881, Assembly Bill 670, Assembly Bill 587, and Assembly Bill 671) that change the regulations for accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and junior accessory dwelling units (JADUs). These new rules build upon the changes to law regarding ADUs enacted in 2017, and still have the overall objective of encouraging the construction of ADUs. Since local ADU ordinances are required to be in conformance with state law, amendments to the City's existing regulations are proposed, to match the new requirements for ADUs and JADUs.
