IN THE <br /> AMOUNT OF $108,252 TO INSTALL THE TOT LOT <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The City of Pleasanton is installing a new tot lot (for 2- to 5-year-olds) at the Valley <br /> Trails Park. The tot lot will be located on the western side of the park, adjacent to the <br /> restroom currently under construction, and existing playground for 5- to 12-year-olds. <br /> Public outreach to gather the community's input was conducted on Saturday, March 2, <br /> 2019, at the site. The Parks and Recreation Commission recommended approval of the <br /> project as proposed on May 9, 2019. The purchase order with Ross Recreation <br /> Equipment Co. (Ross) in the amount of $108,252, and the revised playground design, <br /> reflect the input from the community as recommended by the Parks and Recreation <br /> Commission. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve the location and design of a new tot lot playground at Valley Trails Park. <br /> 2. Allocate $177,800 from fund 223 (Park Developer Contributions) to the Valley Trails <br /> Tot Lot and Landscape Improvement Project, CIP No. 18756. <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to execute the purchase order with Ross Recreation <br /> Equipment Co. in the amount of $108,252. <br /> 4. Authorize the Director of Engineering to approve and execute purchase order <br /> amendments of up to a contingency amount of 10 percent for a total of $10,825. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Funding for the recommended purchase order and the contingency ($119,077) is <br /> budgeted and available in the Park Developer Contributions fund. These funds were <br /> contributed by the developer, Ponderosa Homes, to design and construct the tot lot, as <br /> well as various landscape improvements within Valley Trails Park, which is immediately <br /> adjacent to their development. A total of $177,800 was contributed by the developer for <br /> these purposes. <br />
