THE CITY OF Q <br /> ~ - � CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT V <br /> pL£ASANTON. <br /> May 15, 2018 <br /> Engineering <br /> TITLE: ACCEPT PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS PERFORMED BY EMPIRE <br /> ENGINEERING & CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR THE 2017 CURB & <br /> GUTTER REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT PROJECT, CIP NO. 16509 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The 2017 Curb & Gutter Removal/Replacement project consisted of removing and <br /> replacing damaged concrete sidewalks that presented potential tripping hazards. It also <br /> included repair of curb and gutter for better drainage, and the installation of new <br /> intersection ramps for accessibility. This work was coordinated with the 2017 street <br /> pavement rehabilitation project, including the pedestrian/bicycle circulation improvement <br /> work at the intersection of Stanley Boulevard and Valley Avenue, and curb and gutter <br /> work associated with the East Bay Regional Park District Castleridge Trailhead. <br /> Construction of the project is complete and ready for acceptance. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Accept the improvements for the project. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion. <br /> 3. Authorize the payment of the retention in the amount of$35,265.06 to Empire <br /> Engineering & Construction, Inc., 30 days after recordation of the Notice of <br /> Completion. <br /> 4. Authorize the transfer of the project's unused balance of $112,163.93 to the Gas Tax <br /> Fund. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Funding for this project totaled $839,543 as outlined in Attachment 1. Expenditures <br /> totaled $727,379.07, leaving an unused balance of$112,163.93. Staff recommends the <br /> transfer of this balance to the Gas Tax Fund balance. <br />
