CITY COUNCIL AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES A �A <br /> JOINT MEETING PLEASANTON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT <br /> April 23, 2018 <br /> TITLE: CITY OF PLEASANTON AND PLEASANTON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT <br /> CO-LOCATION OF MAINTENANCE FACILITIES ASSESSMENT <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Receive information about the City of Pleasanton and Pleasanton Unified School District <br /> co-location of maintenance facilities assessment project. <br /> SUMMARY <br /> As part of an ongoing commitment for collaboration between the City of Pleasanton and <br /> Pleasanton Unified School District, and to gain a better understanding of options <br /> available for the relocation of current District offices and facilities, both organizations <br /> have begun a collaborative process toward determining the feasibility of a shared <br /> maintenance and operations facility at the City of Pleasanton Operations Service <br /> Center. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Through ongoing collaborative efforts, the Pleasanton Unified School District and City of <br /> Pleasanton are continually searching for viable options to create efficiencies that would <br /> provide optimal, long-term benefits for the District, the City, and community. One <br /> potential cost-saving project being considered is the relocation of the existing District <br /> operations and maintenance facility to a shared space at the City of Pleasanton <br /> Operations Service Center at 3333 Busch Road. <br /> The City Operations Service Center site at is currently utilized by a variety of City <br /> departments: the on-site firing range and K9 obstacles courses are used extensively by <br /> the Police Department in training and ongoing exercises; the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire <br /> Department utilizes the training tower for hands-on exercises and evaluation, both <br /> internally and with outside agencies; the Operations Services Department commands the <br /> majority of the facility, with space being used for staff offices, fleet maintenance, <br /> equipment and material storage, and division specific workshops. <br /> The consulting firm Management Partners was contracted to facilitate the process <br /> between both agencies, as well as conduct the requisite research and compile the <br /> relevant data that will allow both agencies to understand each other's needs, and <br /> determine outcomes that would be mutually beneficial to both the City and the School <br />
