District. The Management Partners contract is being funded equally by the City and
District.
The result of this feasibility assessment project will aid in the determination as to whether
the agencies wish to pursue a more detailed assessment. A preliminary meeting
between City and District staff is scheduled on Thursday, April 26. At the meeting, staff
from both agencies will be completing a feasibility survey and discussing operational
procedures, program needs, and identifying any potential obstacles that may arise from
the implementation of a shared operations space. Both the draft survey and draft work
plan for the project are attached to this report.
DISCUSSION
While the City of Pleasanton and Pleasanton Unified School District currently partner on
a variety of community programs and services, a shared maintenance and operations
facility would represent a new venture between the two organizations. District and City
partnerships are common among many municipal agencies, especially involving
recreation, library and community services; shared operations spaces are much less
commonplace. If the assessment of this project proves to be feasible, additional plans
would be established to ensure an ongoing effective partnership which would require
active and ongoing communication between City and School District staff. As the School
District and City explore the feasibility of this project, a number of opportunities may arise
to find efficiencies that benefit both agencies, including shared service contracts for
services that both agencies utilize, shared equipment and storage spaces, and other
related activities.
As additional insight is gathered throughout this process, recommendations and direction
will be sought from both the Pleasanton Unified School District Board of Trustees and
the City of Pleasanton City Council.
Submitted by:
to,s;
Nelson Fialho D .
