THE CITY OF 11 <br /> -1 <br /> 21 "' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLEASANTON® <br /> February 20, 2018 <br /> Engineering <br /> TITLE: APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW BIDS AND AWARD <br /> CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO FBD VANGUARD CONSTRUCTION, <br /> INC. FOR THE ANNUAL SIDEWALK MAINTENANCE — FOOTHILL ROAD <br /> ALONG STONERIDGE MALL PROJECT, CIP NO. 17512 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Bids have been received for the project to remove and replace the old and damaged <br /> asphalt sidewalk on the east side of Foothill Road between Stoneridge Drive and <br /> Canyon Way. The asphalt sidewalk will be replaced with concrete, and new Americans <br /> with Disabilities Act (ADA) access ramps will be installed. Staff is recommending award <br /> of the construction contract to FBD Vanguard Construction, Inc. in the amount of <br /> $287,246. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve the plans and specifications for this project. <br /> 2. Review the received bids and award the construction contract for the project to FBD <br /> Vanguard Construction, Inc. of Livermore, California in the amount of$287,246. <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above construction contract. <br /> 4. Authorize the Director of Engineering to approve and execute contract change <br /> orders for a contingency amount not-to-exceed $28,725 (approximately 10% of the <br /> construction contract), for any necessary related project work. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The anticipated total expenditure for this project is $316,464, including $28,725 for <br /> construction contingency. A total of $400,000 was budgeted in fiscal year 2017-18. <br />
