THE CITY OF 7 <br /> ...~.1111111'1 CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLE ASANTON <br /> February 20, 2018 <br /> Community Services <br /> TITLE: APPROVE FOUR (4) PROPOSED DESIGNS FOR "PROJECT PAINT BOX" <br /> SUMMARY <br /> "Project Paint Box" is a utility box beautification program that celebrates local artwork <br /> and encourages regional artists to share their creativity throughout the City of <br /> Pleasanton. Vibrant artwork helps deter unsightly graffiti and creates pleasant spaces <br /> for residents and visitors. This project is now entering its fourth year and continues to <br /> grow in popularity. <br /> At its February 5, 2018 meeting, the Civic Arts Commission approved four (4) proposed <br /> designs and requested that their recommendation be forwarded to the City Council for <br /> their review and consideration (Attachments 2-6). <br /> CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br /> The Civic Arts Commission recommends that the City Council approve the four (4) <br /> proposed designs, to be placed on the utility boxes located at the following locations: <br /> (1) Black Avenue and Hopyard Road; (2) West Las Positas and Iron Horse Trail; (3) <br /> Stanley Boulevard and Valley Avenue; (4) Bernal Avenue and Valley Avenue. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve the four (4) proposed designs, to be placed on the utility boxes located at the <br /> following locations: (1) Black Avenue and Hopyard Road; (2) West Las Positas and Iron <br /> Horse Trail; (3) Stanley Boulevard and Valley Avenue; (4) Bernal Avenue and Valley <br /> Avenue. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The artists for these projects will be compensated $750 per utility box. Artist <br /> compensation will be funded through the Public Art Acquisition Fund # 50550110- <br /> 440109. <br />
