THE CITYOF 7
a CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pL£ASANTON.
January 16, 2018
Community Development
Traffic Engineering Division
TITLE: APPROVE A PURCHASE ORDER WITH ECONOLITE IN THE AMOUNT
OF $149,126.25 FOR VIDEO DETECTION EQUIPMENT
SUMMARY
The 2018 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) contains a project to upgrade the traffic
signal video detection system to provide the ability to differentiate between the presence
of a vehicle and the presence of a bicycle. This CIP begins the process of upgrading the
400+ traffic signal cameras in the City. Due to the amount of the purchase order, City
Council must approve the purchase of the cameras from Econolite. Econolite is our
current provider of signal detection equipment. These new cameras are compatible with
our existing software system used to operate and maintain the other 400 Econolite
cameras installed in the City, allowing for a seamless upgrade.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the purchase of video detection equipment in the amount of$149,126.25 as
part of the Video Detection CIP project (CIP No. 17568).
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
Funding for the cameras is budgeted in CIP project No. 17568.
