PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. PC-98-16 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPLICATION OF CARDEN WEST SCHOOL FOR A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT, AS FILED UNDER CASE UP-97-75 WHEREAS, Carden West School has applied for conditional use permit approval to: 1) expand Carden West School into 4466 Black Avenue by adding two, 10 student classrooms in Suite L, and 2) increase the number of students at the school from 95 to 130 students; and WHEREAS, zoning for the property is 0 (Office) District; and WHEREAS, at its duly noticed public hearing of March 25,1998, the Planning Commission considered all public testimony, relevant exhibits, and recommendations of the City staff; and WHEREAS, projects of this nature are categorically exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA); therefore, no environmental document was prepared for this project. WHEREAS, the Planning Commission made the following findings: A. The proposed location of the conditional use is in accordance with the objectives of the zoning ordinance and the purpose of the district in which the site is located. Some ofthe objectives of the zoning ordinance are to: foster a harmonious, convenient, workable relationship among land uses, protect existing land uses from inharmonious influences and harmful intrusions, and to insure that public and private lands ultimately are used for the purposes which are most appropriate and beneficial to the City as a whole. As conditioned, the proposed classrooms and increase in student capacity would not interfere with the operations of the surrounding uses and would not alter the existing design or use of the building. Due to the small number of students that would occupy the classrooms and the interim nature of the use, the proposed project would be consistent with these objectives.
