THE CITY OF 4
PL£ASANTONC CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
September 13, 2016
Community Development
Traffic Engineering Division
TITLE: APPROVE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH FEHR &
PEERS IN THE AMOUNT OF $39,908 TO PROVIDE PLANNING AND
ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR A FOOTHILL ROAD BICYCLE CORRIDOR
PLAN
SUMMARY
Foothill Road is an important asset to Pleasanton's bicycle network. Tree cover, gentle
hills and curves make the two-lane road ideal for road cyclists. However, limited sight
distances, narrow lanes, gaps in the bike lane pavement striping, and lack of road
shoulders discourage less experienced and/or intrepid bicyclists from enjoying this asset.
Staff advertised and solicited a request for proposal for the Foothill Road Bicycle Corridor
Plan (FRBCP); three proposals were submitted. After review, staff is recommending
Council approve an agreement with Fehr & Peers to complete the project.
RECOMMENDATION
1. Approve the Professional Services Agreement with Fehr & Peers to provide
planning and engineering services for completion of a Foothill Road Bicycle
Corridor Plan for the not to exceed amount of$39,908.
2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the attached professional services
agreement.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
Funding for the Foothill Road Bicycle Corridor Plan will be provided through the Bicycle
and Pedestrian Related Improvements project, CIP No. 165043. This project is funded
by Alameda County Measure B and Measure BB Bicycle and Pedestrian funds.
