PL£ASANTONa CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />10 <br />July 19, 2016 <br />Human Resources <br />TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PROPOSED PAY <br />SCHEDULE COVERING TEMPORARY CLASSIFICATIONS <br />SUMMARY <br />Compensation for temporary employees is established by the City and reflected on the <br />City's publicly posted Temporary, Part- time /Seasonal Classification Salary Structure. <br />Periodically the salaries are studied to determine if they are appropriate to attract and <br />retain qualified employees to support the various programs and services provided <br />throughout the City. A recent compensation study concluded numerous positions were <br />below the wage averages as compared to nearby cities and staff is recommending <br />wage adjustments to bring these pay scales to competitive levels. In addition, staff is <br />recommending changes to the classifications used in Community Services for <br />recreation programming to be consistent with current industry standards. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a resolution approving changes to the attached temporary salary schedule as <br />recommended. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />The financial impact as a result of the implementation of this recommendation is an <br />estimated cost of $200,000, which has been included in the recently adopted <br />FY2016/17 Operating Budget. <br />
