5 THE CITY OF PL£t1SANTONa CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT June 21, 2016 Engineering TITLE: APPROVE CONTRACT AMENDMENTS TO PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACTS FOR: ON-CALL SURVEYING AND COMPUTER DRAFTING PROFESSIONAL SERVICES WITH THE FIRMS OF RUGGERI-JENSEN- AZAR, KIER &WRIGHT CIVL ENGINEERS AND LAND SURVEYORS, INC., AND ALEXANDER&ASSOCIATES, INC.; AND ON-CALL GEOTECHNICAL AND MATERIAL TESTING PROFESSIONAL SERVICES WITH THE FIRMS OF ENGEO INCORPORATED, GEOCON CONSULTANTS, INC., AND BSK ASSOCIATES SUMMARY The City has a need for surveying and computer drafting professional services and geotechnical engineering and material testing professional services for various projects. These on-call contracts were set up for a three-year term ending June 30, 2016. The on- call consultants have been providing exceptional service. Staff recommends extending the contracts an additional two years. The on-call surveying consultants (Ruggeri-Jensen- Azar, Kier&Wright Civil Engineers and Land Surveyors, Inc., and Alexander&Associates, Inc.) contract extensions would allow the consultants to provide service between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2018. These extensions would maintain the existing total aggregate not-to-exceed amount of$500,000 over the life of the contracts. The on-call geotechnical consultants (ENGEO Incorporated, Geocon Consultants, Inc. and BSK Associates) contract extensions would also allow the consultants to provide service between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2018. These geotechnical contract extensions would provide an additional $350,000 to the existing total aggregate not-to-exceed amount of $$500,000, for a new total of$850,000 over the life of the contracts. Although there is a recommended aggregate not-to-exceed amount over next two years, there is no guaranteed amount of work to any of the firms, and there is no guarantee that the aggregate total amount will be expended over the contract period. Work will be assigned based solely upon recognized need. RECOMMENDATION 1. Approve contract amendments with on-call surveying/drafting firms Ruggeri-Jensen- Azar, Kier & Wright Civil Engineers and Land Surveyors, Inc., and Alexander & Associates, Inc., extending the contract termination date to June 30, 2018. All other terms remain the same, including the aggregate total compensation not-to-exceed $500,000. 2. Approve contract amendments with on-call geotechnical firms ENGEO Incorporated, Geocon Consultants, Inc., and BSK Associates, extending the contract termination date to June 30, 2018 and increasing the aggregate total not-to-exceed compensation to $850,000.
