THE CITY OF 1 ® <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> PLEASANTON. <br /> June 7, 2016 <br /> Community Services Department <br /> TITLE: ACCEPT THE DONATION AND LOCATION OF THE PUBLIC ARTWORK, <br /> "SELF-PORTRAIT", BY GUILLERMO WAGNER GRANIZO AT CIVIC <br /> PARK <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The family of artist Guillermo Wagner Granizo approached the city and indicated their <br /> interest in donating a one of kind piece titled, "Self-Portrait" to the city's public art <br /> collection. Mr. Granizo's sons, Ron and Bob have shared with staff that their father felt <br /> very connected to the piece, "Pleasanton Centennial" that he created for the city before <br /> he passed away. Because of this strong connection, his sons would like to donate the <br /> only self-portrait ever created by their father to the City, with the hopes that the piece <br /> could be installed near the "Pleasanton Centennial" towers located at Civic Park. On <br /> behalf of Ron and Bob Wagner (Granizo), the Civic Arts and the Parks and Recreation <br /> Commissions, staff is requesting that the City Council accept the donation of the public <br /> artwork, titled, "Self-Portrait", in Civic Park. <br /> CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council accept the donation and location of the public artwork, "Self- <br /> Portrait", by Guillermo Wagner Granizo at Civic Park. <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council accept the donation and location of the public artwork, "Self- <br /> Portrait", by Guillermo Wagner Granizo at Civic Park. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council accept the donation and location of the public artwork, "Self- <br /> Portrait", by Guillermo Wagner Granizo at Civic Park. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The public artwork, "Self-Portrait", by Guillermo Wagner Granizo is valued by the family <br /> at $5,000. The installation of the piece near the "Pleasanton Centennial" towers in <br /> Civic Park is estimated at $3,000-$5,000. Funding for the installation is currently <br /> available in the Public Art Maintenance fund #038900. <br />
