THE CITY OF 12
® -•• •° CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pLEASANTON,,
May 3, 2016
Operations Services
TITLE: APPROVE CONTRACT WITH BOCKMAN & WOODY ELECTRIC CO. FOR
HANSEN PARK LIGHT POLE REPLACEMENT
SUMMARY
The current Street Light Repair and Replacement Plan includes a project to replace the
pathway light poles at Hansen Park. There is a total of twenty-two (22) pathway light
poles, of which sixteen (16) are original and are in need of replacement due to corrosion.
However, as part of the project, all poles will be replaced to maintain a consistent
appearance and bring all the poles up to a modern efficient standard. A Request for Bid
(RFB) was formally advertised in February 2016. A total of four (4) bids were received for
this project on March 31, 2016. The low bidder was determined to be non-responsive
because of a mathematical error in their submitted bid and Bockmon & Woody Electric
Co. was selected as the lowest qualified bidder.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute the
contract for this work with Bockmon & Woody Electric Co. for a not to exceed amount of
$260,000.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The Operations Services Department will administer this contract and partial funding of
$150,000 is allocated in the FY2015/16 Street Light Repair and Replacement Plan
budget. The bids received were substantially higher than anticipated and Council
authorization is requested for an additional $110,000 in funding from the Street Light
Replacement Internal Services Fund. The fund balance for the Street Light Replacement
Internal Services Fund is $1.7M. The proposed contract with Bockmon &Woody Electric
Co. is for a not to exceed amount of $260,000.
