THE CITY OF 6 <br /> r _ <br /> °'° ' "I CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ASANTONo <br /> May 3, 2016 <br /> Community Development <br /> Traffic Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION APPROVING A GATEWAY MONUMENT <br /> MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT WITH CALTRANS FOR THE BERNAL <br /> AVENUE AT I-680 LANDSCAPE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The project includes the installation of a gateway monument, landscape, hardscape and <br /> irrigation features at the I-680/Bernal Avenue interchange. The project is currently under <br /> construction and is nearly complete. Since these improvements are within Caltrans' <br /> right of way, the City obtained an encroachment permit from Caltrans to construct the <br /> improvements. The encroachment permit requires the City to maintain these <br /> improvements through a maintenance agreement at no cost to the State. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Adopt a resolution approving the attached Gateway Monument Maintenance <br /> Agreement. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Since this agreement formalizes the City's intent to bear the maintenance costs for this <br /> landscaping/monument sign, the City's operational budget will need to cover the cost of <br /> maintenance once the landscape construction project is accepted by the City. <br />
