THE CITY OF 1 2 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ASANTON¢ <br /> March 15, 2016 <br /> Operations Services <br /> TITLE: UPDATE ON THE STAGE 3 DROUGHT EMERGENCY <br /> SUMMARY <br /> A Stage 3 water shortage was declared by the City Council in May 2014, and the City <br /> implemented a mandatory 25% reduction in water usage. In April 2015, the State of <br /> California also adopted a mandatory 25% statewide reduction requirement. This report <br /> provides an update on the overall drought condition and water conservation efforts. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council: <br /> 1) Continue the local Drought Emergency Declaration; and <br /> 2) Maintain the Stage 3 mandatory water conservation of 25%. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> No financial implications. <br />
