THE CITY OF 3 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> PLEASANTON. <br /> March 15, 2016 <br /> Community Development <br /> Traffic Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 11, CHAPTER 11.20, <br /> SECTION 11.20.010 OF THE PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE <br /> CHANGING VARIOUS SPEED LIMITS <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The City reviews and updates speed limits on an annual basis to ensure that the posted <br /> limit provides the most orderly movement of traffic in a safe and efficient manner and <br /> that all posted limits conform to the requirements outlined in the California Vehicle <br /> Code. This year, changes are recommended for two road segments — Bernal Avenue <br /> between Valley and Arroyo De la Laguna Bridge (decrease from 45 mph to 40 mph), <br /> and Laurel Creek Way (increase from 25 mph to 30 mph). <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Adopt the ordinance changing the posted speed limit on two roads: <br /> • Bernal Avenue (from Valley Avenue to the Arroyo De la Laguna Bridge) from 45 <br /> mph to 40 mph, and <br /> • Laurel Creek Way from 25 mph to 30 mph. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> There is a onetime cost of$1,525 to replace the existing speed limit signs. <br />
