THE CITY OF 7 CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> PLEASANTTONa <br /> March 15, 2016 <br /> Engineering <br /> TITLE: APPROVE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH <br /> CALLANDER ASSOCIATES LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE, INC. IN THE <br /> AMOUNT OF $34,220 TO DESIGN THE TENNIS AND COMMUNITY PARK— <br /> TWO ADDITIONAL TENNIS COURTS PROJECT, CIP 147031 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The proposed professional services agreement with Callander Associates Landscape <br /> Architecture, Inc. (CALA) is to design two new tournament level lighted tennis courts at <br /> the Tennis and Community Park. The design of the courts will complement the existing <br /> ten courts at the site, however the new court lighting will be LED. The decision to move <br /> forward with LED lights instead of the existing High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights was <br /> based on the energy savings and improved LED technology. The two courts will be <br /> located in the area identified for additional courts in the original 1985 Tennis and <br /> Community Park Master Plan, bringing the total number of courts in line with the Master <br /> Plan. Design services include design development through bid documents, including <br /> construction plans, bid estimate, and special provisions. The completion of the design <br /> services is projected to occur in June with construction completion in October. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve the attached professional services agreement with CALA in the amount of <br /> $34,220 to design two new lighted tennis courts at the Pleasanton Tennis and <br /> Community Park. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the professional services agreement with <br /> CALA in the amount of$34,220. <br /> 3. Authorize the Director of Engineering to approve a contingency amount up to an <br /> additional $5,780 (total of$40,000) for project related services. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> There is $50,000 currently available in the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budget <br /> for the design of the two new courts in the Pleasanton Tennis and Community Park-Two <br /> Additional Courts project, CIP No. 147031. Another $350,000 is planned to be added in <br /> fiscal year 2016-17 as indicated in the Capital Improvement Program FY 2015-16 through <br /> FY 2018-19 Budget. <br />
