JONES, INCLUDING FUTURE USE OF 309 <br /> NEAL STREET, POTENTIAL ENDOWMENT FOR AMADOR <br /> LIVERMORE VALLEY HISTORICAL SOCIETY, AND OPTIONS FOR <br /> RECOGNITION OF MS. JONES <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Longtime Pleasanton resident and Amador High School graduate Ms Jean Jones <br /> passed away in 2015 and left her estate to the City Her will established a trust and <br /> included direction for historic preservation and use of her home at 309 Neal Street Her <br /> preference was that the home be used as a museum, but allows for the sale of the <br /> home subject to conservation requirements <br /> Peter MacDonald, trustee of Ms Jones' estate, has (1) identified and consolidated <br /> financial assets, (2) taken action to conserve 309 Neal Street, (3) had a historic study <br /> completed for the house, and (4) seeks City Council direction regarding disposition of <br /> the house and the estate assets <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1 Create an easement at 309 Neal Street and install a plaque to commemorate Ms <br /> Jones and the home's history <br /> 2 Direct staff to include 309 Neal Street in the list of Historic Neighborhoods and <br /> Structures in the General Plan when it is next amended <br /> 3 Find that 309 Neal Street is located in an existing one-family residential <br /> neighborhood where a public museum or other public uses would not be compatible <br /> 4 Authorize the sale of 309 Neal Street to be used as a one-family home, subject to a <br /> conservation easement to preserve its historic character, with the home's Marketing <br /> Plan approved by the City Manager and conservation easement approved by the <br /> City Attorney, Director of Community Development and City Manager <br /> 5 Create an endowment with the Amador Livermore Valley Historical Society with the <br /> assets from Ms Jones' estate, including proceeds from the sale of the home, and <br /> direction that Ms Jones be acknowledged at the Museum on Main <br /> 6 Adopt a resolution to direct the City Manager and City Attorney to execute all <br /> documents and take actions needed to effectuate the commemoration of Ms Jones, <br /> sale of the home, creation of an endowment, and other steps for final discharge of <br /> Ms Jones' estate <br />
