THE CITY OF I 1 <br /> A::� <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLEASANTON. <br /> January 19, 2016 <br /> Operations Services <br /> TITLE: UPDATE ON THE STAGE 3 DROUGHT EMERGENCY <br /> SUMMARY <br /> A Stage 3 water shortage was declared by the City Council in May 2014, and the City <br /> implemented a mandatory 25% reduction in water usage. In April 2015, the State of <br /> California also adopted a mandatory 25% statewide reduction requirement. This report <br /> summarizes the City of Pleasanton's 2015 water conservation efforts and provides an <br /> update on the overall drought situation. In 2015, the City of Pleasanton significantly <br /> exceeded the required State mandate by reducing water use by 37.7% or 2.23 billion <br /> gallons compared to 2013. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Maintain current Stage 3 Water Conservation Plan. This includes a suspension of the <br /> excess water use penalties, section 9.30.100 of the current City Drought Emergency <br /> Declaration mandating a 25% water reduction. The excess use penalties would resume <br /> and be applicable to any water used after March 1, 2016. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> No financial implications. <br />
