THE CITY OF ._
 CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pLEASANTONm
December 1, 2015
Economic Development
TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION LEVYING THE PLEASANTON DOWNTOWN
BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT ASSESSMENT FOR 2016
SUMMARY
The Pleasanton Downtown Association (PDA) Advisory Board 2015 annual report and
2016 budget were presented to and approved by the City Council on November 3, 2015.
The Council is now asked to hold a public hearing and consider adoption of a resolution
levying the Pleasanton Downtown Business Improvement District assessment for 2016.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Council hold a public hearing and adopt a resolution levying the
Pleasanton Downtown Business Improvement District assessment for 2016.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The agreement between the City and PDA obligates the City to match the annual
assessments paid by businesses in the BID. In 2015, the City match from the General
Fund was approximately $66,000. Staff anticipates the 2016 match (if approved) will
again be approximately $66,000. In addition to the City's direct participation, the City also
contributes to the PDA by funding staff time to administer the PDA assessments and
agreement, assistance and staff time for special events, as well as the cost to maintain
downtown planters, clean sidewalks, coordinate garbage pickup and other infrastructure
and logistical efforts.
