THE CITY OF <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT 5 <br /> pLE ASANTON. <br /> March 17, 2015 <br /> Community Development <br /> Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW BIDS, AND AWARD <br /> CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO CAMPBELL CONSTRUCTION <br /> COMPANY IN THE AMOUNT OF $108,600 FOR THE BI-ANNUAL <br /> CONTROL VALVE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT, CIP NO. 141011 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Bids have been received for the project to remove and replace 22 water valves, and up <br /> to ten water service laterals. Staff is recommending award of the construction contract to <br /> Campbell Construction Company in the amount of$108,600. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve the plans and specifications for the project. <br /> 2. Review the bids received and award the construction contract for the project to <br /> Campbell Construction Company of Amador City, California, in the amount of <br /> $108,600. <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above construction contract. <br /> 4. Authorize the Director of Community Development to approve and execute <br /> contract change orders for a contingency amount not to exceed $10,860 (10% of <br /> the construction contract), for any necessary related project work. <br /> 5. Authorize the transfer of$19,700 from the Bi-Annual Control Valve Improvements <br /> project (CIP No. 121011) to fully fund the project. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The replacement and upgrade of the existing infrastructure will reduce current and future <br /> maintenance issues and costs. The project was authorized in the 2014/2015 Capital <br /> Improvement Program (CIP), as the Bi-Annual Control Valve Improvements projects (CIP <br /> No. 141011). Staff recommends the transfer of$19,700 from the Bi-Annual Control Valve <br /> Improvements project, CIP No. 121011, to fully fund this project. <br />
