THE CITY OF 7 <br /> - " --yr CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLEASANTONe <br /> Se ptember 3, 2013 <br /> Community Development <br /> Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW BIDS, AND AWARD <br /> CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO ROSAS BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION <br /> IN THE AMOUNT OF $146,430 FOR THE ANNUAL SIDEWALK <br /> REPLACEMENT PROJECT, CIP NO. 125012 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Bids have been received for this project to remove and replace damaged sidewalk, curb <br /> and gutter, and install new access ramps and new sidewalk. Staff is recommending <br /> award of the construction contract to Rosas Brothers Construction in the amount of <br /> $146,430. The project consists of removing and replacing sidewalks that are potential <br /> tripping hazards as well as curb and gutter to improve drainage flow. It also includes <br /> installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access ramps and new sidewalk for <br /> accessibility. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve the plans and specifications for this project. <br /> 2. Review the bids received and award the construction contract for the project to <br /> Rosas Brothers Construction of Oakland, California, in the amount of $146,430. <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above construction contract. <br /> 4. Authorize the Director of Community Development to approve and execute <br /> contract change orders for a contingency amount not to exceed $22,000 <br /> (approximately 15% of the construction contract) for any necessary related <br /> project work). <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The anticipated total expenditure for this project is $168,664, including a construction <br /> contingency of $22,000. Projected expenditures and funding are detailed in <br /> Attachment 3. <br />
