IN THE AMOUNT OF $291,301 FOR THE STAPLES RANCH: IRRIGATION AND LANDSCAPING IMPROVEMENTS AT EL CHARRO ROAD AND THE 1-580 INTERCHANGE PROJECT, CIP NO. 115023 SUMMARY Bids have been received for the Staples Ranch: Irrigation and Landscaping Improvements at El Charro Road and the 1-580 Interchange project, CIP No. 115023. Staff is recommending award of the construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder, Bortolussi & Watkin, Inc. in the amount of $291,301. The work will consist of irrigation and landscaping improvements at the southwest quadrant of El Charro Road and the 1-580 Interchange. RECOMMENDATION 1. Approve the plans and specifications for this project. 2. Review the bids received and award the construction contract for the project to Bortolussi & Watkin, Inc. of San Rafael, California, in the amount of$291,301. 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above construction contract. 4. Authorize the Director of Community Development to approve and execute contract change orders for a contingency amount not to exceed $29,130 (approximately 10% of the construction contract), for any necessary related project work. FINANCIAL STATEMENT Funding for this project includes an allocation of $350,000 from the Capital Improvement Program (CIP), Staples Ranch: Irrigation and Landscaping Improvements at El Charro Road and the 1-580 Interchange project, CIP No. 115023. In addition, $138,358 is available from the Regional Measure 2 (RM2) funds from the Alameda County Congestion Management Agency which was added to the project budget at the time of award of the design contract. Therefore, funding available for this contract totals $488,358. The City of Pleasanton will be maintaining the landscaping; therefore maintenance and operation costs will increase.
