THE CITY OF 21
t" -- III CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pLEASANTONa
July 17, 2012
Operations Services Department
TITLE: AMENDMENT TO THE ENERGY UPGRADE PLEASANTON PROGRAM
INVOLVING THE REDISTRIBUTION OF ENERGY REBATES
SUMMARY
On October 18, 2011, the City Council authorized $250,000 from the Capital
Improvement Program to establish the Energy Upgrade Pleasanton (EUP) program
which provides rebates for residential and commercial solar installations and energy
efficiency upgrades. Of this amount, $150,000 was designated for residential rebates,
and $100,000 was designated for commercial rebates. Currently, demand for the
residential program exceeds available funding while demand for the commercial program
has been minimal. To address this situation, staff is recommending that the 60%
residential/ 40% commercial funding distribution noted above be amended to address
demand resulting in residential using a higher percentage of the available funding. Total
program funding would remain the same.
RECOMMENDATION
Authorize and amendment to the EUP's 60% residential/ 40% commercial funding
distribution so that rebates are provided based on demand. This action will increase the
rebates available for residential, reduce the rebates available for commercial but will not
increase program funding beyond the $250,000 approved previously.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There are no financial impacts associated with this report as overall program funding will
remain at $250,000 as approved previously.
