THE CITY OF 05 <br /> -• ° ='� ""' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT 05 <br /> pLEASANTON® <br /> September 6, 2011 <br /> Community Development <br /> Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW BIDS, AND AWARD <br /> CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO J3C CONSTRUCTION IN THE AMOUNT <br /> OF $56,250 FOR THE BERNAL PROPERTY MITIGATION POND <br /> OBSERVATION DECK PROJECT, CIP 117024 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The City Capital Improvement Program (CIP) includes installation of an observation <br /> deck adjacent to the recently constructed Bernal Bridge Offsite Mitigation Pond, located <br /> at the Southwest corner of Valley Avenue and Laguna Creek Lane, adjacent to Mission <br /> Creek. Capital Improvement Program (CIP) funds are budgeted for this work. Staff has <br /> prepared plans and solicited bids for the construction of a deck. It is now recommended <br /> that the construction contract be awarded. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve the plans and specifications for the project. <br /> 2. Review the bids received and award the construction contract to J3C Construction of <br /> Berkeley, California, in the amount of$56,250. <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into a construction contract with J3C <br /> Construction. <br /> 4. Authorize the Director of Community Development to approve and execute, if <br /> necessary, contract change orders in an amount not to exceed $11,250 (20% of the <br /> construction contract). <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The City's adopted CIP budget includes funding in the amount of $85,000 for the project <br /> (CIP No. 117024). In addition to the construction contract and 20% contingency totaling <br /> $67,500, the project budget includes funding for signage related to the project. <br />
