THE CITY OF 11 # ° -- "' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT pLEASANTON August 16, 2011 Community Services TITLE: RESOLUTION APPROVING A GRANT APPLICATION FOR LOCAL GRANT FUNDS FROM EAST BAY REGIONAL PARK DISTRICT UNDER MEASURE WW PARK BOND EXTENSION FOR THE DOLORES BENGTSON AQUATIC CENTER RENOVATION PROJECT, CIP 087038 SUMMARY East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) Measure WW was passed by voters in Contra Costa and Alameda County on November 4, 2008. Under Measure WW Park Bond Extension, EBRPD is authorized to issue bonds amounting to $500 million. Of that, $375 million (75%) is available to fund regional park acquisition and capital projects and $125 million (25%) is available to cities, special park districts and counties on a per capita basis. The City of Pleasanton's total share based on per capita funding is $3,171,377. Staff will be applying for $3,171,377 in local grant funds from East Bay Regional Park District under Measure WW Park Bond Extension to help offset the cost of the Dolores Bengtson Aquatic Center Renovation Project (CIP 087038). The application process requires each public agency to provide a Resolution from its governing body approving the filing of a grant application and the execution of a Master Contract with the District to establish the contract and funding requirements throughout the life of Measure WW. With the Master Contract executed between both parties, the City is guaranteed to receive its designated share of the Measure WW funding. RECOMMENDATION That the City Council approve a resolution authorizing the City Manger to execute a Master Contract to apply for local grant funds from East Bay Regional Park District under Measure WW Park Bond Extension and all other related documents. FINANCIAL STATEMENT There are no matching fund requirements for the program. This is a reimbursement grant program in that EBRF'D will make payments to the City based on costs incurred by the City for the approved project(s).
