THE CITY OF <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ASANTONo <br /> August 16, 2011 <br /> Operations Services <br /> TITLE: APPROVAL OF CONTRACTS WITH TREE SCULPTURE <br /> CORPORATION FOR LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE SERVICES AT <br /> VARIOUS STREET MEDIANS, AND FACILITY LOCATIONS <br /> THROUGHOUT THE CITY AND SYCAMORE LANDSCAPING FOR <br /> MOWING AND EDGING SERVICES IN VARIOUS CITY PARKS <br /> SUMMARY <br /> As part of the City's overall park and street median maintenance program it utilizes a <br /> range of service types including City employees, contract landscapers, private vendors <br /> for supplies, and as needed service contractors for repairs to structures. Services <br /> related to park and median maintenance provided by private contractors typically <br /> includes litter removal, turf mowing and edging, shrub and ground cover trimming, and <br /> weed/insect control. Staff recently conducted a public bid process for these services <br /> and has selected Tree Sculpture Corporation to provide landscape maintenance <br /> services, in an amount not to exceed, $400,000 annually, at the Park and Ride lot on <br /> Johnson Drive, the Iron Horse Trail segment from Santa Rita Road to Busch Road, the <br /> 64 planters on Main Street, and various street medians including those on Sunol <br /> Boulevard, Bernal Avenue, Valley Avenue, Vineyard Avenue, West Las Positas <br /> Boulevard, and Stanley Boulevard. The mowing and edging services will be provided <br /> by Sycamore Landscaping for an amount not to exceed, $265,000, and will include <br /> services in various City parks including Amaral, Bicentennial, Creekside, Orloff as well <br /> as other locations including Civic Center. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with: <br /> 1 . Tree Sculpture Corporation with a not-to-exceed maximum of $400.000 for <br /> landscape maintenance of medians and various facility locations throughout the <br /> City. <br /> 2. Sycamore Landscaping with a not-to-exceed amount of 265,000 for mowing and <br /> edging services in various City parks. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> These contracted services are funded in the Park Maintenance Budget for 2011/12 - <br /> 12/13. <br />
