CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA ORDINANCE NO. 1220 AMENDMENTS TO ARTICLE 3, CHAPTER 2, TITLE II OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON IMPOSING REGULATIONS ON THE INSTALLATION OF RESIDENTIAL AND NON-RESIDENTIAL SATELLITE EARTH STATIONS WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has strived to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of the City's site by careful attention to and regulation of the design and improvement of its residential neighborhoods and commercial/industrial areas; and WHEREAS, the City has sought to protect the health, safety, and general welfare of its citizens by adopting appropriate zoning and building regulations, said regulations being designed to assure the safety and quality of life of its citizens, including the aesthetic qualities of the community; and WHEREAS, the sudden and indiscriminate erection of satellite earth stations threatens to impinge unnecessarily upon the aesthetic enjoyment of residents in their neighborhoods, to undo the careful attention to architectural design and complementary landscaping achieved through individual project review of commercial/industrial projects, and to unnecessarily risk injury to citizens and their property due to improper erection; and WHEREAS, in response to the above concerns, the City Council and Planning Commission initiated a study of such satellite earth stations and of possible amendments to the Zoning Ordinance to regulate satellite earth stations in such a manner so as to avoid the potential evils of indiscriminate erection of such earth stations; and WHEREAS, a duly noticed public hearing was held on September 17, 1985; THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: The above findings are hereby adopted.
