THE CITY OF 05 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ASANTONa <br /> May 17, 2011 <br /> Community Development <br /> Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW BIDS, AND AWARD <br /> CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO PONTE ENGINEERING CORPORATION <br /> IN THE AMOUNT OF $86,490 FOR THE BI-ANNUAL CONTROL VALVE <br /> INSTALLATIONS PROJECT, CIP NO. 101011 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Bids have been received for the Bi-Annual Control Valve Installations project, CIP No. <br /> 101011, and staff is recommending award of the construction contract to the lowest <br /> responsible bidder, Ponte Engineering Corporation in the amount of $86,490. The <br /> project consists of replacing existing and damaged water main-line valves with industry- <br /> standard valves at various locations along Valley Trails Drive. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve the plans and specifications for this project. <br /> 2. Review the bids received and award the construction contract for the project to <br /> Ponte Engineering Corp. of San Jose, California, in the amount of $86,490. <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above construction contract. <br /> 4. Authorize the Director of Community Development to approve and execute <br /> contract change orders for a contingency amount not to exceed $13,000 (15% of <br /> the construction contract), for necessary related subject project work. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The replacement and upgrade of the existing infrastructure will reduce current and <br /> future maintenance problems and costs. The subject project was authorized in the <br /> 2010/2011 Capital Improvement Program, CIP No. 101011, Bi-Annual Control Valve <br /> Installation, to replace deteriorated water main-line valves throughout the City. <br />
