THE CITY OF 6 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ASANTON. <br /> April 19, 2011 <br /> Community Development <br /> Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW BIDS AND AWARD <br /> CONTRACT TO ROSAS BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION IN THE AMOUNT <br /> OF $198,967.50 FOR THE ANNUAL CURB AND GUTTER REPLACEMENT <br /> PROJECT, CIP NO. 105009 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Bids have been received for the subject project for removing and replacing <br /> approximately 3,200 square feet of sidewalk, 1,475 linear feet of curb & gutter, and <br /> installing 56 access ramps. Staff is recommending award of the construction contract to <br /> the lowest responsible bidder, Rosas Brothers Construction in the amount of <br /> $198,967.50. The project consists of removing and replacing sidewalks that are tripping <br /> hazards, curb & gutter for better drainage flow, and installation of access ramps for <br /> accessibility at various locations in the City. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve plans and specifications for this project. <br /> 2. Review the bids received and award the contract for the project to Rosas Brothers <br /> Construction, of Oakland, California, for a low bid amount of $198,967.50. <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the project contract. <br /> 4. Authorize the Director of Community Development to approve and execute any <br /> required contract change orders to address unanticipated project conditions for a <br /> not -to- exceed amount of $39,000 (approximately 20% of the contract). <br /> 5. Authorize the transfer of $88,153 from the Annual Sidewalk Maintenance project, <br /> CIP No. 105012, to complete the funding for this project. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> This project is part of an annual ongoing program that will replace and upgrade existing <br /> infrastructure and will reduce maintenance costs. Funding for this project will be <br /> provided by the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project, Annual Curb and Gutter <br /> Replacement (CIP No. 105009). Because the Annual Curb and Gutter Replacement <br /> project is short $88,153 in funding, staff recommends transferring the balance from the <br /> Annual Sidewalk Maintenance project, CIP No. 105012 to complete the funding. A <br /> summary of funding and estimated expenditures is presented in Attachment 3. <br />
